Jessie’s Story
COVID -19 has impacted many lives, especially those who work in the restaurant industry. Jessie knows this all too well! She, like countless others, were directed not to come into work amid the COVID-19 safety precautions and restaurant shutdown, in March 2020. Jessie applied for unemployment, but applications were backed up due to overwhelming demand. She and her significant other currently split the rent for the apartment they share. Unfortunately, Jessie was unable to pay her portion of the April rent which had never happened before. She is currently looking into alternate employment opportunities, but is having difficulty since most companies are not conducting interviews. Jessie needed help with rent and Rappahannock United Way, though the ALICE Assistance Fund, was able to BE THERE for her.
