From RUW President Janel Donohue (March 17, 2020)

Dear Rappahannock United Way family,

Thank you for continuously supporting our community through your donations, work and advocacy with Rappahannock United Way– our impact wouldn’t be possible without you.

We are aware of the current situation with the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) and we want to ensure you that we are working to keep our volunteers and clients safe.

With that in mind, we have made the difficult decision to close all Rappahannock United Way (RUW) Tax Sites until further notice to protect those most at risk, including our volunteers and taxpayers, and to prevent the spread of the Coronavirus (COVID-19). We regret the inconvenience this will cause taxpayers and have resources below for additional support.

Thanks to online tools provided by Intuit and MyFreeTaxes,  we will continue to offer an online option to file for free at home. If you are able to, we strongly urge you to file at home. Please share our website with family and friends who may still need to file. www.RUWFREETAXES.org

With the health of our volunteers, staff and community in mind,

Rappahannock United Way is also pausing its upcoming Reading Days and Book Sort-A-Thon. We will make an announcement as soon as we have new dates available.

We are offering a daily Story Time on our Facebook Page, at 11:00am, as an activity for families impacted by school closures. We also hope it provides a bit of stress relief and joy during these times of uncertainty. You can find our Facebook Page here: facebook.com/rappahannockunitedway

Our commitment to the community is not wavering. If you, or someone you know, is financially impacted by COVID-19, if you are worried about loss of earnings or increased expenses, such as childcare costs, Rappahannock United Way is here to help! Click here to learn more about resources.

If you would like to help those in our community impacted by COVID-19, please donate to RUW’s ALICE Assistance Fund which helps working households facing financial hardship due to the impact of unforeseen life events, like those caused by COVID-19.

Thank you again for your support!

Stay safe and be well,

Janel S. Donohue

Tax Program Update (March 13, 2020)

Rappahannock United Way cares about the health safety of our tax clients and volunteers.  In an effort to continue offering tax services while also maintaining safety, RUW has decided to postpone all offsite locations for the time being. We will continue to operate our RUW tax site until further notice and will revisit this decision frequently using the latest available information. Please check the locations and schedule page for up-to-date information.
