Rappahannock United Way will NOT be providing free tax preparation this year

Please Read Below for Information about AARP’s Free Tax Preparation Services

Appointments are Required – No Walk Ins

 

Beginning in February 2026, AARP’s Free Tax-Aide service will be available at locations in Fredericksburg, Spotsylvania, Stafford, and Caroline counties.

Call the nearest location to obtain an information packet and schedule an appointment.

Appointments will generally run through April 15, consistent with site hours and days of operation.

The Tax-Aide program provides free tax return preparation and filing for low-to-moderate income and elderly families and for individuals whose returns are within the scope of the IRS-certified volunteers’ training.  AARP’s Tax-Aide volunteers focus on cases without complicated tax issues for taxpayers who truly need the free services.

Note that AARP membership is not required to use the free Tax-Aide service.

As in prior years, the following procedures will be in place to ensure safe and efficient tax return preparation:

  • Tax-Aide service hours and days vary by location
  • Tax-Aide packets can be picked up at all sites during normal business hours after January 19, 2026
  • Appointments are required
  • All personal tax documents must be collected and the required Intake Form must be completed and signed before the scheduled appointment
