Impact Your Community Year-Round

Volunteer at Rappahannock United Way and join us as we work to improve the lives of individuals and families in the Greater Fredericksburg area.

Here are some ways you can help:

Healthy Living

We are collecting new, age-appropriate supplies for new born babies to build “New Baby Baskets” for their parents.  Healthy beginnings for babies and young children are vital for early childhood health and success.

Join with us to help local families build strong foundations to reach important health and developmental milestones by:

  • Collect Baby Supplies items
  • Host a “Community Baby Shower”
  • Volunteer at one of our Sort-a-thon events

Financial Stability

We focus on helping hard working households gain the financial skills needed to be financial self-sufficient.  We need a team of dedicated volunteers to help individuals prepare their tax returns and share financial resources. You do NOT need to be a tax expert to volunteer; we provide training and support.

Join our team through a variety of volunteer roles to improve the financial stability of local families:

  • Greeters who welcome and pre-screen clients.
  • Preparers who help clients file returns.
  • Tax Coaches who assist clients in filing their own tax return using free tax filing software.
  • Financial Coaches connect individuals with basic financial services like opening a checking or savings account.

April, May, June

Literacy and early learning are critical to ensuring children are ready for kindergarten and reading at grade level by third grade. We are collecting new, age appropriate books for distribution to Head Start Classrooms throughout our area.

We'll also match volunteer readers with a classroom for book delivery and story time reading events.

  • Collect new age appropriate books
  • Volunteer at one of our Sort-a-thon events
  • Volunteer to deliver books and read to a classroom
