Virtual and In-Person Volunteer Opportunities Are Available!
Greeters Provide a Warm Welcome.
Greeters are the first people that tax clients meet when they arrive at RUW tax sites. A Greeter is responsible for welcoming tax payers, verifying tax clients have proper documentation, and that they meet the criteria for the Tax Program. Greeters must be comfortable speaking with people and monitoring the waiting area. Greeters do not have to answer tax questions. Both in-person and virtual opportunities are available.
Tax Preparers Help Tax Clients Complete Tax Returns using Software.
Volunteer Tax Preparers conduct client interviews, help clients complete accurate tax returns, and distribute client surveys. Volunteer Tax Preparers must be comfortable speaking with people, reviewing tax documents for information, and using a computer based tax software to help tax clients complete tax returns online. Volunteer Tax Preparers can also assist with reviewing tax returns prepared by other volunteer Tax Preparers prior to filing (Quality Reviews). Both in-person and virtual volunteer opportunities are available.
