File your taxes for free.
Is it really FREE?
YES! Anyone who has a household income of $80,000 or less is eligible. Although RUW’s Free Tax Prep program can assist with most returns, we must follow IRS guidelines and cannot prepare certain types of returns.
Read some important information from the IRS:

- For volunteers: VITA/TCE Free Tax Program Mission & Volunteer Standards
Accommodations: Please contact Rappahannock United Way directly to request special accommodations at least ten (10) days prior to event date.
Free Tax Preparation Assistance is offered in conjunction with the Rappahannock Region Financial Stability Coalition.
A note to our community about COVID-19. UPDATED 4/6/2020
All Rappahannock United Way Tax Sites have been closed until further notice to protect those most at risk, including our volunteers and taxpayers, and to prevent the spread of the Coronavirus (COVID-19). We are noticing an influx of taxpayers calling for tax preparation and I want to ensure everyone is aware of all the resources available.
The FREE online filing system remains an option!
IRS Free File by Turbotax is free to any household with an income less than $36,000 in 2019.
MyFreeTaxes.com is free to all households (except those needing Schedule C, D, or E).
Economic impact payments: What you need to know
The Treasury Department and the IRS announced that distribution of economic impact payments will be distributed automatically, with no action required for most people.
Taxpayers who filed tax returns for either 2019 or 2018 will automatically receive an economic impact payment of up to $1,200 for individuals or $2,400 for married couples and up to $500 for each qualifying child. Some taxpayers who typically do not file returns will need to submit a simple tax return to receive the economic impact payment.
For eligibility requirements and more information visit The IRS Website.
Here’s what to do if you discarded your Economic Impact Payment prepaid debit card
Your Economic Impact Payment may arrive in a plain envelope from "Money Network Cardholder Services" which some people have thrown away by mistake. If your card is discarded or destroyed, call EIP Card Customer Service at 1-800-240-8100 (TTY: 1-800-241-9100) immediately and select the “Lost/Stolen” option. Your card will be deactivated to prevent anyone from using it and a new replacement card will be ordered. Find answers to more EIP questions on IRS.gov.
Deferral of employment tax deposits and payments through December 31, 2020
The Coronavirus, Aid, Relief and Economic Security Act (CARES Act) allows employers to defer the deposit and payment of the employer's share of Social Security taxes and self-employed individuals to defer payment of certain self-employment taxes.
All employers (including government entities) may defer the deposit and payment of the employer's share of Social Security tax.
