Kevin’s Story
Kevin is a cancer survivor and extremely vulnerable to COVID-19. As a result, he had to stop working in March. Kevin’s job is commission-based and therefore has not been earning an income. He’s exhausted all his personal savings and assets to keep a roof over his head- His Economic Impact Payment was used to catch up on bills. Currently, he does not qualify for most government assistance and his employer does not offer any type of financial assistance to help employees. Kevin has applied with disability through the social security administration, however, that is a four to six-month process. Rappahannock United Way, through the ALICE Assistance Fund, has paid his rent in full for May and June. Kevin will be able to return to work in July and make enough money to get back on his feet.
