Katie’s Story
Katie’s brother (whom she cares for) unexpectedly had to have heart surgery, in March. Due to his being immunocompromised, she could not return to her office afterwards. Unfortunately for Katie, she hadn’t worked at her place of employment long enough to be eligible to telework. She quickly started a job search and secured a new remote position – but it didn’t start for weeks. Katie received the EIP / stimulus payment and was able to cover all her bills except for rent.
Rappahannock United Way through the ALICE Assistance Fund, covered the two months’ rent she needed for her and her brother to stay financially secure.
Good luck at your new job, Katie!
