Reaching people in all areas of our community is important to us at Rappahannock United Way.
That’s why we partnered with the Caroline Family YMCA to set up FREE Tax Preparation and FREE Financial Coaching at their location this tax season.
“The YMCA loves partnering with Rappahannock United Way,” said Paul Gehring, Executive Director of the Caroline Family YMCA. “I think this service will mean a lot to the citizens of Caroline County and help fulfill a need.”
Ruther Glen resident Yvette Tramontano was thrilled to see the service so close to her home.
“I love it,” said the disabled Veteran, who has been a Rappahannock United Way FREE Tax Services client for several years but always had to drive to Fredericksburg to have her taxes done at other Rappahannock United Way sites. “I don’t like to drive. This really means a lot to me.”

Gehring hopes more Caroline residents will take advantage of the last tax site date at Caroline Family YMCA on March 17 from 3-7 p.m. or March 18 from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Anyone with a household income of $64,000 or less in 2016 is eligible for the free service.
“At the Y, everything we do is in support of our cause to strengthen community,” said Gehring. “As effective as YMCAs are at fulfilling our cause, we know working with others who share our passion for our communities brings new potential to what we can achieve. I would encourage people to take advantage of this free service because of the ease of getting it done.”

“Taxes can be confusing,” said Tramontano, while having an IRS-certified volunteer handle all her tax questions and concerns. “I don’t leave anything to chance when it comes to taxes. It’s just nice to have a professional do it. It’s a good service and it’s much appreciated.”
