Rappahannock Region Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster(RR VOAD)

Collaboration of local emergency services, non-profits, faith-based organizations, businesses, schools and civic groups working together to prepare and respond to disasters.

RR VOAD was created in 2001 by Rappahannock United Way, the American Red Cross, Rappahannock Chapter, and the Salvation Army. It was formed with the knowledge that voluntary organizations have many resources with which to help the community, but these groups have to be organized to be used effectively.

It is led by an Executive Committee, which is made up of representatives from member organizations. Members meet quarterly to keep up with activities and learn information pertinent to disasters. A wide variety of trainings are offered to all members in an effort to familiarize our community at large with disasters, what volunteers might be called to do, the responsibilities of other disaster response organizations, etc.

RR VOAD supports community collaboration and new members are always welcome to join!
