Current Volunteer Need: Citizen Review Volunteers!
Deciding which programs to fund – and in what amount – are among the most critical decisions the RUW Board of Directors makes each year. Citizen Review volunteers are a vital part of this decision-making process.
Panel volunteers are assigned to a Citizen Review Panel. Each panel evaluates up to 3 agency funding applications, and develops funding recommendations for the Board of Directors to consider. The Board then uses Citizen Review Panels’ recommendations to decide next year’s monetary allocation to each United Way member agency.

About the Volunteer Center
Rappahannock United Way has operated a Volunteer Center for the region for more than a decade helping to match volunteers to meet the needs of local non profit organizations.
Currently there are more than 100 charitable organizations registered on the United Way Volunteer Website. The organizations meet a wide variety of community needs from health care to homelessness, environmental causes, animal agencies and sports and recreation.
Volunteer services’ aim is to represent the needs of the community; we really believe that through our Volunteer Website we have an easy way to present a wide variety of volunteer opportunities for everyone. Whatever a persons age, ability, skills and schedule – we have an opportunity to match.
This year more than 20,000 people volunteered with nonprofit organizations in our community; volunteers offered over 500,000 hours of service to those in need. Volunteers have donated over $10 million in time to our community. Over a quarter of our nation’s population volunteers, making volunteers an irreplaceable asset to our country.
