The Local Government Campaign provides people who work in the governments and schools in the City of Fredericksburg and counties of Caroline, King George, Spotsylvania, and Stafford with an opportunity to support the work of Rappahannock United Way and local charitable organizations. It is the only opportunity that local government and school employees have to make contributions through the convenience of payroll deduction. During the 2011 Campaign, the Local Government raised $288,579.91, exceeding its $275,000 goal. The 2011 Local Government Campaign was chaired by Bev Cameron.

Congratulations to Crystal Loving of Stafford County Public Schools for being named the 2011 Local Government Campaign Coordinator of the Year!

Rappahannock United Way's Local Government code is 6400.

The campaign is overseen by a committee of representatives composed of employees from the various government and school districts called the Local Government Campaign Coordinating Committee. They established the guidelines for the campaign, selected Rappahannock United Way as Fiscal Agent/Campaign Consultant to serve as the administrator for the campaign, and evaluated the agencies that applied for inclusion in the campaign. In each step of the process, the interests of local government and school employees were given top priority.

If you wish to learn more about the Local Government Campaign, please contact Tammi Ellis at (540)373-0041 ext. 310  or tellis@rappahannockunitedway.org

staffordDesignated Gifts

This is a total designation campaign. This designation process allows you to choose up to four federations or agencies to receive your gift. There is a section on your pledge card where you can indicate which agencies you want to support. Each agency listed has a code. By writing the code numbers for the agencies you want to support, you designate that only those agencies will receive your contribution. You may choose to support an entire group of agencies that is represented by one of the federations in the campaign. If you designate to a federation, your contribution will go to support all of the represented agencies of that federation. Note: Due to administration bookkeeping, there is a minimum designation of $25.00 per agency per year.

Undesignated Gifts

lgcFifty percent of all undesignated funds will go to the fiscal Agent/Campaign Consultant (Rappahannock United Way) for allocation based upon local, priority needs. The other fifty percent will be distributed to each Campaign participant listed in the brochure as is consistent with the percentage of designated funds that participant received in the campaign.

Write-In's

If you want to support the work of a non-profit organization that is not listed, there is a space on your pledge card to write in that organization’s name and address. That organization must provide health and human services to Virginia residents and qualify for 501(c)(3) tax status. Agencies without mailing addresses will be processed as undesignated gifts.
