GOVERNANCE
In order to maintain the highlest level of accountability and ethics, Rappahannock United Way has created a multi-leveled and diverse governance structure. Our Board of Directors is made up of some of the most influential and knowledgeable members of our community who make it their duty to carry out our mission and vision in their everyday lives. Rappahannock United Way also receives guidance from a number of committees that help to ensure our work is of the highest standards. Executive Committee: Made up of the Chair, President, Secretary, Treasurer and ex-officio (immediate past Chair). Their duties include conducting the business of the Board in intervals between meetings of the Board of Directors in accordance with the rules and regulations that have been adopted by the Board. Finance and Administration Committee: The Finance and Administration Committee oversees the organization's financial planning, safeguards the organization's assets, drafts fiscal, adminstrative and personnel policies, ensurest that the board receives accurate, timely and complete information, ensures federal, state, and local reporting requirements are dutifully completed, and reccommends capital acquisitions or upgrades to building and equipment. The Finance Committee is chaired by the Treasurer of the Board. Audit Committee: The Audit Committee is in charge of performing all the duties related to conducting the annual independent auditors report. Marketing Committee: The Marketing Committee correlates the Corporation's goals, resources and services to the needs, wants and values of customers and stakeholders. It advises the Board of Directors in defining Rappahannock United Way's brand identity, and it implements marketing strategies to enhance and strenghthen that identity. Grants and Technical Assistance Committee: The Grants and Technical Assistance Committee organizes and coordinates all grantmaking processes according to the policies and protocol established by the Board of Directors. The committee evaluates grant applications, performs due diligence study of grantee governance and capabilities, assesses the outcomes of grantees, makes grant award recommendations to the Board of Directors, and oversees the delivery of technical assistance to grantees and other community based organizations. Board Development Committee: The Board Development Committee maintains board composition by nominating directors and officers annually or as vacancies arise. It promotes effective board leadership and sound governance. Campaign Committee: The Campaign Committee organizes and conducts campaigns for funds for the organization.
