Rappahannock Region Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster (RR VOAD)

RR VOAD is a collaboration of disaster response organizations, human service agencies, faith based organizations, civic clubs, and others that commit their resources to helping the community recover from the affects of a disaster.

Come to Our Next Meeting - Everyone Welcome!

RR VOAD was created in 2001 by the Rappahannock United Way, the American Red Cross, Rappahannock Chapter, and the Salvation Army. It was formed with the knowledge that voluntary organizations have many resources with which to help the community, but these groups have to be organized to be used effectively.

RR VOAD prepares now for disasters that may happen in the future. A strong network of volunteers helps our community recover more quickly and effectively from the affects of a disaster. Residents are able to return to a somewhat normal state of life more quickly if their disaster related needs are met.

RR VOAD volunteers have an important role in this!

RR VOAD is led by an Executive Committee, which is made up of representatives from member organizations RR VOAD members meet quarterly to keep up with RR VOAD activities and learn information pertinent to disasters.

RR VOAD offers a wide variety of trainings to all members in an effort to familiarize our community at large with disasters, what volunteers might be called to do, the responsibilities of other disaster response organizations, etc.

RR VOAD meetings are a great way to meet and network with other faith-based organizations, community agencies, schools and businesses. RR VOAD supports community collaboration.

New members are always welcome to join RR VOAD.

Members of the Executive Committee would be pleased to make a presentation to your organization if desired. Please call Sarah Walsh at 540/373-0041 x14 or email at swalsh@rappahannockunitedway.org to schedule a presentation or for more information on becoming a member.
