Volunteer
Register with Your Local Volunteer Center - many local, state and national organizations struggle to utilize non-affiliated volunteers in times of disaster. During disasters large numbers of spontaneous volunteers offer their help - these offers alone can tax already overburdened systems and distract emergency workers from assisting those in need. Don't wait for disaster to strike to register. By registering now your offer of support can be put to use quickly and effectively when a disaster happens.

Train
Free training offered by the Rappahannock United Way in partnership with local agencies especially designed for community based disaster preparedness.- NEXT TRAINING - Hurricane Preparedness Presentation - May 17, 2007

Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) - Classes Run All Year - training that prepares individuals to help sustain lives following a disaster until help arrives.

American Red Cross - First Aid & CPR certification, plus a wide variety of disaster training classes.

Adopt a Shelter Program – a network of local shelters providing a safe haven in our community during times of disaster. Faith based organizations, schools and businesses with suitable facilities and/or volunteers are being sought.

Citizen Corps Councils – harnesses the power of every individual to make communities safer, stronger, and better prepared to respond to disasters of all kinds.

Rappahannock Region Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster (RR VOAD) – a collaboration of local emergency services, non-profits, faith-based organizations, businesses, schools and civic groups working together to prepare and respond to disasters.
