DAY OF CARING

This year the Rappahannock United Way held their 15th annual Day of Caring on September, 18th.  Over 250 volunteers from local companies and organizations came out and helped 16 agencies with over 44 projects around the community.

The day started with a kick-off breakfast at the Lee Hill Community Center. Breakfast was donated by Panera Bread, and Paul’s Bakery. D.J. Dave Adler from 95.9 WGRQ was there doing his radio show and helping spread the word of the sites where food drives were taking place.

This year we had a wide variety of projects done around the community. Some if the projects completed were realigning and repositioning historic headstones at the National Cemetery, cleaning the buses for the Rappahannock Area Community Services Board, painting the families bedrooms at the Thurman Brisben Center, and working the after school program at the Boys and Girls Club.

Target, Lowes, First Market Bank and Colonial Circuits all did drives for the Day of Caring as well.

We would like to thank all of our amazing volunteers, agencies and companies that made this day possible.
